2020 Summer Intern - Media

Position Summary:

The Media Intern supports the media team throughout the strategy, planning and buy management process. They work with assigned accounts and manage day-to-day media projects to make sure that deliverables are met. The Media Intern is expected to be an active participant on assigned accounts; consistently engaged and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit clients.

Position Requirements

Education: At least 2 years completed towards a degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising or Communication preferred

Experience: Experience working within healthcare field preferred


Position Responsibilities

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:


Assist with media coordination activities including:

  • Media vendor research
  • Audience research
  • Ad trafficking
  • Medical journal library maintenance
  • Flowchart updates
  • Research healthcare marketing trends


Assist with media analytics activities including:

  • UTM tagging
  • DCM campaign set up/management
  • Cost data import
  • Paid search query report review
  • Paid search ad review & optimization


Assist with social media activities including:

  • Monitoring engagements with paid and organic social media posts for client reporting
  • Scheduling approved social media posts on appropriate platforms
  • Monitoring social media listening tool for competitive intelligence and client mentions
  • Update and maintain media vendor database by taking calls with vendors and understanding their capabilities & opportunities and classifying them.


Media Coordination

  • Work with PM teams to manage material deadlines
  • Work with PM teams on plan asset development by providing and maintaining technical specs/ direction as needed
  • Update media schedule flowchart as needed
  • Provide support for media strategy and planning/buying teams as needed; assist with presentation preparations
  • Perform competitive analysis and reporting as requested
  • Maintain media vendor information/contact database


Digital tasks

  • Learn ad trafficking via Doubleclick
  • Assist with paid search & banner campaigns reporting as needed
  • Assist with analytics reporting as needed
  • Learn and utilize analytics measurement tools for client reporting (Google Analytics, Google Ad Words, DoubleClick ad server, DoubleClick DSP)


General tasks

  • Research issues related to healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing
  • Research healthcare trends and opportunities and provide relevant updates to client and agency teams
  • Work with agency teams to provide guidance on client requests or media research

On the job training

  • DCM overview
  • Google Analytics overview
  • Social media management platform overview
  • Excel training – pivot tables, sorting, graph building, etc.



  • Must be available 40 hours per week, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Minimal flexibility around the 12 week program, from May 17 – August 7

Please note: we do not offer housing support for out-of-state interns.


Talent and Knack

The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficient skills in MS Office:  Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal communication and ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers and analytical thinking
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
